The reason 'for being' of this web site initially served one purpose .. to act as a temporary repository for testing web sites that I was developing. The free web hosting services did not offer Microsoft™ FrontPage extensions as were necessary for site development and testing. Since I am paying for the domain name, "ernestwebwiz.com" and web hosting services, the thought arose, "Why don't I use the provided domain and space to provide something other than a test bed for web sites under construction?"
There are hundreds of web sites that offer technical support for various subjects in the Cyber/PC world -- from computer maintenance, software tips, web site design, etc., to what is the proper 'net etiquette'. While these sites are great and serve a very worthwhile purpose, sometimes they are too technically oriented for the beginning computer user. He (or she) sometimes do not know where to turn for answers to simple questions like, "What is the Internet", "Why can't I see the pictures that you email to me", "Where do the files that I download go to", "How can I scan something on my scanner and send it to you", "How do I know if I have a virus on my computer" -- etc., etc. Again, the answers to these questions are fully explained on various sites on the Internet, but the act of finding them sometimes proves a daunting task for the neophyte computer/Internet user.
It is my intent to provide help for those 'persons in need', and while there is no way I intend to get into elaborate and technical dissertations on things beyond my knowledge and experience -- the help offered here should contain some 'tidbits of wisdom' that may help make your computer experiences more enjoyable. This web site will never be completed -- as new material is discovered and new questions arise, they will be added to keep the content fresh.
Of course, for those lucky? folks who know me -- humor is what keeps us all from going mad and keeps our minds young. As I come across things that make us laugh, they will be included. You will enjoy them, won't you Aunt Joe Billy? My family is blessed with a sense of humor, otherwise they couldn't put up with me!
